Bits & Pieces is a series of visuals exploring procedural material and a simple lighting setups within 3D software - Blender.
Blender has a really interesting way of generating materials, in this case specifically through its node-based system and using Cycles as the rendering engine. Using these tools and features I explored a mixture of metallic, coated and subtly soft surfaces on an array of simple 3D shapes.
Seeing these different materials together in one visual ramps up the look of each object. Combining each item into a scene like this also allowed me to play with lighting, shadows and reflections. The resulting renders showcase a composition that balances all the elements, materials and colours in one high-resolution visual that could be cropped or isolated to hero-specific detail within the scene.
